Inscribed
on this hard to find McCoy planter are the words
"Under the village Chestnut tree," words
written over a century ago in 1842, by perhaps
America's most beloved poet, Henry Wadsworth
Longfellow. McCoy can perhaps be forgiven for
misquoting this famous line. The actual line is
"Under a village chestnut tree." And
the line continues "the village smithy
stands." McCoy depicts the smithy standing
under the tree. This uncommon, nostalgic piece was
first produced in 1953 in varying colors. It's 7
½" x 6 ½" in excellent condition except
for a small paint fleck at the top of the post. Full
